This article is about iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is having a disuade conversation with Larry King Live.The iranian leader Mahmoud is going against the raw accusations of iran having a nuclear program aswell as being a serial killer. Mohmoud states saying “he has no interest” in a nuclear bomb – but has for creating one or even holding one, who knows.As Larry King tries so hard to persuade Mahmoud to come to terms with the truth, Mahmoud reacts back with this statement “We are not seeking any bombs.” As the interview prolongs Mahmoud makes a statment saying “Both the Zionist(Iran) regime and the United States government should be disarmed,” he said. “The threat to the world are the bombs that the U.S. government and the Zionist regime have.” My reaction to this article was that I did not totally agree or believe Mohmoud when he claimed he wasen’t intterested in bombs.To me when the question was out on the table he became somewhat agaited and lashiing out proving his neglect to tell the truth.

This article talks about a lady named Mary Bale, age 45, who lives in the UK and is being charged with two counts of animal cruelty. She was caught on camera tossing a cat into a trash bin. “If convicted, she could face a jail sentence and a lifetime ban from keeping animals.” She got a lot of hatred from animal lovers all over the world, some of them even asked for her death. A lot of people got all worked up by it but now, a lot of the Brits have seem to forgotten due to another animal cruelty crime committed by an unknown man. This man was caught dropping off a dog at a park and when he drove away, the dog was limping and tried to follow but couldn’t keep up. I had different reactions while reading it. At first, when I read the title “UK Cat-Tossing Lady Charged With Animal Cruelty”, I laughed. I laughed because I thought they meant one of those crazy cat ladies that has a bunch of cats and speak gibberish. Then, when I started reading it, I realized that wasn’t the case and I felt bad for the cat. Then I began to feel bad for Mary Bale because she left her job on sick leave because of all the hatred she was getting. Sure, it was wrong what she did but I don’t think it was that terrible that people wanted her dead. Then, when I read about that unknown man, I got a bit upset by the fact that the Brits forgot about Mary Bale’s case of animal cruelty to focus on a new case. They never finished with Mary Bale’s case and they already seem like they forgot and were getting all worked up on this new case. It shows the short attention span of humans, I guess. I think that if the Brits were going to go and treat Mary Bale terribly for making one mistake and then forget about it half way, it just doesn’t make any sense to me.

This article is about the newly funded security cameras that are to keep vigilant watch over the subway system. 200 million dollars is going to be used to fund this. The objective of the project is to prevent any future crimes and acts of terrorism. There is also an alarm that can be sounded if there is an unattended package or if someone is entering a restricted area. I say that the added security makes you feel safe but how fast can the law act is the real question. Sure they may SEE the act of crime happening on camera but how fast can they call officers to the scene to prevent something before it happens? It might just be a waste of 200 million dollars. But yet the city would’nt just throw money into a project that was’nt going to be pobed from all angles. So maybe they CAN catch the perp in time. Added security vs. time of justice.

This article is about the survivors of high school gang wars in Thailand. We often hear stories about a teenager who was shot or stabbed in the U.S. Come to find out that in Thailand it gets a little more serious. There is so much gang violence that the media ignored them, until an innocent 9 year old boy was shot and killed. On sept first, The students opened fire on a public bus in Bangkok. Four bullets hit the 9 year old boy.
My reaction to this article is that the Thai government should’ve payed more attention to this specific problem before it got out of hand. Now, even if they try to regulate these kids, it will not be as easy because they are used to their lifestyle and killing another person wont make a difference to them.

On sunday Sept.19.2010 during the Chicago Cubs vs. Florida Marlins baseball game. while the Chicago Cubs were increasing their led. Their catcher Welington Castillo came up to back, while holding a maple baseball bat. He smacked a double into left field, and the bat split into two. So while the Cubs outfielder Tyler Colvin was rounding third base to score on Castillo’s ground double, Colvin was struck by the sharp-end of the broken maple bat directly on his chest. Colvin is now in a hospital in Miami, Fl, getting treatment to prevent a collapsed lung. And is also nt expected to play for the rest of the season.
REACTION: Among the team mates of Colvin, there was a debate about the usage of maple baseball bats. Jeff baker said that he also saw a home plate umpire get slashed by a maple bat on his neck, and that he doesnt use a maple bat so he wouldnt have that in his conscience. I totally agree with Jeff Baker on his statement of maple bat useage. It might help you hit the ball further, but your still risking the life of another or yourslef by using one. And players should cut-down on the usage of maple bats.
A supposed up coming “rapper” makes his debut at a music festival. He is supported by his current girlfriend and her family. But apparently he thought that his girlfriend was unfaithful to him and jumped to conclusions without actually having any key evidence. And the way he takes his anger out is by killing his girlfriend, her father, mother, and her friend. I understand that people hate being cheated on but without evidence you shouldn’t really kill a person and their whole family. My personal opinion is that I cant believe this guy called himself a rapper, songs about killing and massacres. I mean come on there’s a lot more stuff to rap about. I think he just a disgrace. Him killing his girlfriend and her family that supported him that much is just inhuman.

“Three Shot on Army Base Near El Paso” From Larry Shaughnessy, CNN Pentagon Producer September 20, 2010 7:58 p.m.
A shooting had occured in a convience store at a army base in West Texas. The gunman fired at 2 women leaving them wounded and the killer was later shot and killed. I think that at least at a army base there should be all sorts of protection and safety. Such mistakes will allow for shootings and killings like this to go on. In my opinion I think a justifed action needs to take place.
Fidel Castro has finally admitted that the communist government of his country (Cuba) failed. In comparison to United States the political cartoons shows flying pigs. I can infer that the flying pigs indicate when United states will turn communist, which is most likely never. My reaction to this cartoon lead me in a curious mind set because i would like to know Fidels Castro’s next move.
Dude kills his wife after too much soda, diet pills, and energy drinks mixed with sleep deprivation. If you ask me she was probably too much of a nag. On the contrary, send the guy to jail because all though that combination may alter a person’s mental health, (from first hand experience) one is still conscious of ones actions, even with out sleep and under some drug like energy drinks. Murder shouldn’t be pardoned unless its self defense against a dominant aggressive offender at the point in time of happening with out premeditation. There’ll be more than enough of that in prison for our friend up there.

Lindsay Lohan was ordered to come to the court on monday but she didn’t show up. The court issued an arrest warrant. The judge warned her that if she failed any drug test she would spend time in jail. She was arrested twice in 2007. She spent 23 days on court ordered rehab program. I don’t know why she is on drugs. She is an actress and many people look at her as their role model. She has good life but she is ruining it for herself.
This article is about Joe Torre visiting to the new New York Yankee Stadium. Torre visited the stadium to be part of the unveiling of the monument for the late owner of the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner. Torre was the general manager of the Yankees for 12 years, leading them to the playoffs every year and four World Series Championships. he explains that he was exited to return to New York. He explained the conflicts he had with Brian Cashman, because Torre turned down a one-year contract. Torre was then downplayed at the memorial for the last game in the old New York Stadium, he said the “A lot of people were bothered by it more than I was,” Torre said. “Nothing is ever going to take the 12 years away from me and all the great memories. You are going to have bumps on the road, otherwise the great ones don’t feel so good” He then states that he is here to remember Mr. Steinbrenner, to pay tribute to the guy who hired him and made him realize some of the best years of his professional life. He said he had a talk to him after the Yankees beat the Dodgers in the their series. Joe Torre the says “I told him you guys kicked our rear ends and he got a kick out of that,” Torre said. “I was just happy to say goodbye, little did I know it would be goodbye at the time.”

Reaction: I am glad that Joe Torre went to show tribute to George Steinbrenner. In my opinion Torre made Steinbrenner happy because of the wins and world series rings. They were great friends and Steinbrenner was a great owner.

Toys,games, remote controls, musical greeting cards, cell phones, watches and lighted shoes as well as other items that are not listed contains button batteries. Recently at Utah Hospital there were ten cases that reported the danger of swallowing button batteries. Out of those ten cases seven caused the most damages. The batteries doesn’t completely block the throat but they can trigger a chemical process and burn through tissues in a short amount of time. A doctor said that these batteries have to be removed immediatly or else it will lead to more serious damages. A 13 month old boy at Ohio swallowed a dime sized battery and it lead him to death, the battery “burned through his esophagus and burst his aorta”. Many parents are incautious of these everyday things around them. The smallest things can cause big effects. I think this article will help many parents become more protective and more catious to their children.

This article is about the loss of privacy of students at some high school and college because those who wants to participate on any type of sport they will have to take the drug test.The supreme court was the one that decide in expanding out the drug testing throughout schools activities , they think that based on this students will be more concern about the things that they do , whether continued with drugs or just leave them behind. After a 17 year old hunt for a child abducted by his divorced dad, the missing boy found himself. Stephen Michael Palacios III cant wait for a reunion with his long tormented mother after he read a Texas newspaper article about the 1993 abduction and realized it was about him. Authorities said, after connecting the dots, he convinced his father to surrender. Confronted by his son, Palacios turned himself in at the offices of a Houston attorney. The U.S. Marshals were summoned to arrest him for interfering with child custody and unlawful flight.

Two daughter’s ages 14 and 7 and a son age 12 were killed. They were found dead on their beds in a suburban Houston apartment building and their father was charged for their murder. Muhammed Goher was accused for killing his childrens after surviving a suicide, which was a gunshot wound to his head. My reaction to this news left me shocked because i dont understand why Muhammed Goher would kill his 3 kids and hurt him self. he was even seen by a female baby-sitter with a handgun and if he really did do this i think its messed up, people to things unexpectedly.

This article is about Baltimore paying homage to Frank Zappa artist, musician,film director and huge iconic influence. Baltimore unveils a bust of Zappa outside the Baltimore library, where he is from. The bust is a replica of a Lithuanian statue, the bust is a small token for all the contributions Zappa’s made. One of those contribution was his testimony in support of musical freedom/expression against censorship. Frank Zappa’s music is timeless and original the song “Muffin Man” has one of the tastiest solo ever.
On the website http://www.ny1.com there was an article were it said that new york probably won’t hire new fire fighters, mayor bloomgerg said “I want to make sure that if my kids are in that building, I want the best-trained, smartest firefighter that we can possibly have coming through that door,” bloomberg also said that he wants to lay off people from other companies to pay the firefighters for over time. I think that this is not right because people need there jobs. We should get new fire fighters and make them the best we go instead of laying off people for over time, I also think hiring new fighters will take time but. People are not going to be happy if they get laid off, this will just cause more problems for the economy.
Efren Peñaflorida a Filipino native at a young age of 17 created what he calls “classroom on wheels”.He would go around the city in his little pushcart full of books, newspapers, and all the material for basic reading and writing.Since 1997 he teached more than 1800 kids with the help of 2000 teenagers.His overall porpuse was to help kids in the streets get a eduaction.His “classroom on wheels” idea now is being dupicated all over the filipines and he very much deserved the cnn award for hero of the year.

In this article, it mentions how a high school in the United States is trying to place healthier choices in their high school’s vending machines. This certain high school in Ohio, decided to add baby carrots to the choices of snacks. Surprisingly, many students are actually buying them. This shows that if steps could be taken to place healthier choices in vending machines, students would actually buy them. I do think it is a smart idea to place vegetables and fruits in vending machines. I feel that students today, and teenagers in general, don’t make smart decisions about what the consume. Sugary and salty foods are a favorites, but they’re not smart choices in my opinion, because in the long term they will affect our bodies.

This article is about France being the first European country to ban the burqa. A burqa is the robes that Muslim women wear covering all parts of their body except their eyes. The punishment for wearing a burqa is a fine of 150 euros and/or a citizenship course. If a person forces a woman to wear one they will spend a year in prison or a 15,000 euro fine. I think this ban is good, even though it goes against freedom of expression. When women wear these burqas we don’t know if they’re carrying a weapon, or if they committed a crime its almost impossible to identify them.

After 5 months and 206 million gallons spewed, the oil well has finally been plugged with cement. It was first sealed with a temporary cap in July, but recently it was filled with mud and cement so it could be certain that the well won’t leak again. There still is a lot of oil in the water and it’s hard for people who work in or leave near the ocean. I was glad to know that this disaster was somewhat over. Even so, my biggest concern is all of the oil left in the water and how soon they will be able to take it out.

Paul Warren Pardus was so upset he shot the doctor and then run inside the room where his mom was . Many School all around the united states “the bands can be bad for discipline, and even be interpreted as disrespectful toward women”. I think that the bracelets are a great way to show a good cause, it might be a bit different then any other breast cancer ad, but i think its not a big deal if some one wears it with a great reason then no one in a school should be punished or band from wearing what they feel is right, we were given freedom of speech to express and say what we feel is right.

Continuing the topic of the Islam religon and freedom of speech, a editor of The New York Republic, Martin Peretz, called Muslim life “cheap”. That comment caused Harvard faculty and student members to question his presence in their celebration to honor the social studies program. However, after trying to get Harvard’s board members to remove him from the ceremony they ended up keeping him because of the amendment that caused the entire controversy: freedom of speech. He is still going to be honored because of the universities mission to “protect and affirm free speech.” However, even though Peretz does have freedom of speech and is allowed to say that about Muslims he should find less harsh ways to say it because Muslims do find that offensive. If it is still offensive than he should support his claim with as much evidence as possible so Muslims understand why he feels that way.
